Growing up in a low-income family, things were often a bit of a juggle, so I know first-hand how much difference the right support at the right time can make. That’s shaped a lot of my career: I’ve spent the last 15+ years working in and around local government, the NHS and VCSE organisations on strategy and commissioning, trying to make sure services actually work for real people, not just on paper.
Now, as a mum of three, that feels even more personal. I know what it’s like to feel stretched, tired, and still wanting to give your children the very best of you.
Home-Start Suffolk really spoke to me because it’s all about walking alongside families with warmth, honesty and no judgement. As a trustee, I hope to bring a mix of lived experience, professional know-how and a lot of heart – helping to champion early help, prevention and a whole family approach, making sure families in Suffolk feel seen, heard and genuinely supported to thrive, not just survive.
