Home-Start Hike 2026

Nearly 100 people stepped up to raise over £7,600 for a Suffolk charity on Sunday 27 September.

Organised by Home-Start Suffolk in partnership with Explore Outdoor and Abbeycroft Leisure, the Home-Start Hike saw families, friends, colleagues and even a local book club take on the charity hike together.

Starting and finishing at Kingfisher Leisure Centre in Sudbury, participants either took on the three, six or 13-mile challenge with all walkers receiving medals at the finish line to recognise their achievement.

New for 2026, the three-mile challenge included a family-friendly letter-finding trail and a meet and greet with Bluey the dog, allowing more families to get involved and enjoy being outside in the beautiful Suffolk countryside.

All money raised will help the charity to continue providing critical support to families of all kinds that are struggling in silence behind closed doors.

Tara Spence, CEO at Home-Start Suffolk, said: “We are pleased with the success of the second Home-Start Hike event which saw members of our community come together to support Suffolk families.

“We are very grateful to all participants and our sponsors, Perrywood, Steve Lumley Planing Ltd and CMT Group, for supporting this fundraising event, allowing us to raise vital funds that help us ensure that family support is just a small step away.

“We know that times are tough for people right now with continued rising costs, so people choosing to support the Home-Start Hike and donate their money to allow us to continue opening doors for families means so much to us.

“Thank you to everyone who has supported the event through hiking, sponsoring, volunteering and donating.”

Tina Campan, Communities and Outdoor Education Manager at Abbeycroft/ Explore Outdoor, said: “We are proud to have supported the Home-Start Hike again this year alongside our outdoor education provision, Explore Outdoor.

“A big part of what we do is encouraging families to get active and outdoors, so it was a pleasure to support the Home-Start Hike 2026 which helped achieve this while raising money for a worthy cause at the same time.”
